What are the types of water pumps?
A pump station refers to a water pumping system composed of electromechanical equipment centered around a water pump and supporting buildings. A water pump cannot operate alone; it needs to be part of a complete pumping device that includes a power machine, transmission equipment, pipelines, and various auxiliary and control devices. To ensure the normal operation of electromechanical equipment and management personnel, and to provide good water flow conditions for the safe and efficient operation of the pump, various supporting buildings such as pump houses, water intake structures, and power distribution facilities need to be constructed, thus forming a hub for pump station engineering. Pump stations can be roughly classified based on their different characteristics.
Classified by pump type.
1) Centrifugal pump station: The installed pumps at the pump station are centrifugal pumps.
2) Axial flow pump station: The installed pumps at the pump station are axial flow pumps.
3) Mixed flow pump station: The installed pumps at the pump station are mixed flow pumps.
(1) Classified by task.
1) Water supply pump station: Includes agricultural irrigation pump stations, industrial and mining water supply pump stations, and urban and rural domestic water supply pump stations.
2) Drainage pump station: Includes agricultural drainage pump stations, urban drainage pump stations, and industrial and mining drainage pump stations.
3) Water transfer pump station: Mainly refers to pump stations that transfer water across river basins, often serving multiple purposes such as water supply, irrigation, and navigation.
4) Booster pump station: In cases where water, oil, or slurry is transported through pipelines, pressure needs to be added along the way to meet the energy requirements for long-distance transport. Pump stations built for this purpose are generally referred to as booster pump stations.
5) Pumped storage pump station: Thermal power plants and nuclear power plants are not allowed to operate intermittently. To maintain the stability of the power grid load, water is often pumped for storage using surplus electricity during low electricity demand periods, to be used for power generation during peak electricity demand periods. Such pump stations are called pumped storage pump stations or pumped storage power stations.
Classified by power type.
1) Electric pump station: A pump station powered by electric motors.
2) Diesel pump station: A pump station powered by internal combustion engines.
3) Turbine pump station: A pump station powered by turbines.
4) Wind power pump station: A pump station powered by windmills.
5) Solar pump station: A pump station powered by solar energy.
