Key points for selecting water pumps
The selection of pumps in building water supply and drainage design is crucial. When choosing water supply pumps, sewage pumps, and fire pumps, it is essential to consider the characteristics of each system, pump parameters, and maintenance factors comprehensively.
1 Water Supply Design
1) Brief description of water sources (including self-supplied water sources and municipal water supply networks).
2) Estimation of water consumption and heat consumption: total water consumption (maximum daily, peak hourly), hourly heat consumption for hot water design, fire water volume.
3) Water supply system: Brief description of the system's water supply method.
4) Fire protection system: Brief description of the types of fire protection systems and water supply methods.
5) Hot water system: Brief description of the heat source, supply range, and supply method.
6) Reclaimed water system: Brief description of design basis and treatment methods.
7) Circulating cooling water, reused water, and other water-saving and energy-saving measures taken.
8) Drinking water purification system: Brief description of design basis, treatment methods, etc.
2 Drainage Design
1) Drainage system, discharge routes for sewage, wastewater, and rainwater.
2) Estimation of sewage, wastewater drainage volume, rainwater volume, and recurrence period parameters.
3) Description of the drainage system and comprehensive utilization.
4) Treatment methods for sewage and wastewater.
The municipal water supply network provides two-loop ring supply to the underground living water tank, with pumps lifting water to the skirt building and the main building's rooftop water tank, which then flows by gravity to various water points. The start and stop of the pumps are controlled by a liquid level control instrument. This upward supply method allows the rooftop water tank to serve as an intermediate regulation, maintaining a relatively constant Q-H value when the pump is running, which does not change with the volume of water used at the points. In the design, the selected pump should only meet the calculated Q-H value. However, it should be noted that the selected pump's Q-H value should not exceed the designed Q-H value significantly, generally controlled to be about 5% greater than the designed Q-H value. Following these principles, we selected the pumps for the skirt building and main building water supply system as 65DL32—15×3 and 80DL50—20×5 models.
